Reed Penney

Since graduating from New York University in 2003 Reed Penney has worked in a variety of roles on various projects in the film/tv industry. He was inspired to produce Rayburn: Mr. Speaker after reading a chapter on Sam Rayburn in Robert Caro’s first volume of his Lyndon Johnson biography as well as from his time working for weekly news magazine show NOW on PBS with Bill Moyers and David Brancaccio.

Since 2006 he was worked on Rayburn: Mr. Speaker off and on while holding various jobs. Recently he has focused on production management and dealing with logistics for film/tv shoots. Reed is based in New York City, but he has Texas roots. His 4th Great-Grandfather Samuel Reed Miller was the patriarch of a family that was part of Stephen F. Austin’s Old Three Hundred, which was a group of Americans who settled in Texas when it was part of Mexico in 1824.
